In this chapter, sir throne is jealous of Jon because Jon is teaching some of the other watchmen about swordplay. a new recruit by the name of Samwell is out against another watchmen and is being brutality beat. Sir Thorne tell his watchmen to keep on beating Samwell until Jon interrupts its and command the watchmen to stop. the watchmen stopped and Sir throne is angry because his men took command from Jon. this is a big part of the book for character development. Jon is trying to enforce new rules and a new brotherhood in the watch because right now it is very different then what he expected. having the watch just be a place for bad people, Jon wants to restore the honor in the watch. i believe this is important to the book because it seem like Jon is taking a commanding role at the watch. with his uncle gone i feel that Jon will be the next in command and out throw sir Thorne and his cruel ways. this chapter interested me because Jon being my favorite character, he growing up and become more of a 'man' taking more responsibility on his self to better the watch and its men.
