Eddard

In this chapter, Ned is required to attend his first council meeting. Although he is dreading it, he still attends. At the council meeting, Ned discovers that the kingdom is in extreme debt of the gold (of which half of it belongs to the Lannisters.) Even with Robert knowing that the kingdom is in severe debt, he decides that he wants to hold a tournament to celebrate, but Ned thinks its a terrible idea because of the debt. After leaving the meeting, Ned is taken to a brothel that Littlefinger owns. When he gets there, he surprisingly finds his wife Catelyn. When he gets into the room Catelyn starts to tell him about the death of Bran. The first thing that comes to Ned's mind is that he wonders if Bran's death is at all related to Jon Arry's death. After Ned realizes what is going on, he sends Catelyn back to Winterfell and he starts to try to put the pieces together and find out what happened with the 2 boy's deaths.

I really liked this chapter a lot. I picked this chapter because I felt like it was suspenseful and a lot of important events occurred which made the story line more exciting, and it also made me think more. I think that this chapter could be one of the most important chapters we have read thus far. My reasoning is that we found out about the major debt in the kingdom. This is a big deal because debt is a major factor of war and could cause a lot of issues to arise. This chapter is also a big deal because it was a big time for Ned, considering it was his first council meeting. One discussion that this chapter could lead to was why Catelyn was at the whorehouse to begin with? What was her intent of being there especially when she is married to Ned? Does this relate to unloyal relationships in today's society between husbands and wives?
