Summary
Arya is trying to catch a cat that had been part of her assignment from Syrio and Princess Myrcella and Prince Tommen show up and think that she is a boy and to avoid from getting into trouble Arya escapes through a window. While Arya is trying t figure out where she is at she hears the voices of two men talking. she does not recognize either men but is listening to what they are saying. The two men talk about that there might be war between the wolf and the lion and that the King's Hand might die if he found out the truth by reading the book. Arya followed the men to keep listening and to use the light from their torch. She finally reaches the castle and gets escorted to her father's room, where she tells him what she has heard. Her father is skeptical of what Arya is saying but their conversation get interrupted by a visit from Yoren who is part of the Night's Watch.
Importance of Chapter
This chapter is important within the context of the larger story because it gives a set of information to the character that the reader is aware of. Since Arya is not aware of this information and does not truly understand what this information she goes and shares this information. And with all that is going on with Ned with his suspicion of Jon Arry's death and Bran's accident, it makes him question what his daughter is saying "Arya what are you talking about? who said this?" even though he is not entirely sure what it is that she is saying. Also, by having two men talk about Daenerys pregnancy, the King's Hand, the book and Jon (the Bastard) gives an indication that people are aware that there is trouble brewing with the Lords and the King as well.
I chose this Chapter because it shows how much Arya is taking her training seriously "She pretended that Syrio was beside her in the dark whispering in her ear. Calm as still water.." and how little interest she truly has in being a princess or some day a queen. She is often mistaken for a boy and not only that but a peasant. She always look dirty that people do not think that she has a place in the castle. Arya is so wrapped up in her training that she seems to be oblivious of her surroundings and what everyone else is doing. Also, towards the end of the chapter we see information of what is happening in the book exchanged by two men and i think that it will play a role on what is to come later in the book.
