Arya

in this chapter arya is hiding in the kings landing, she goes into a crowd where Joff is giving judgement on Ned. Ned confesses toe treatment and is brought to his knee in front of the crowd. Joff shows no mercy and has Ned executed. As Ned is about to be beheaded, Arya draw her show and tries to run through the crowd to help her father. Yoran, Ned great swordman grab her before she can get to far and tell her she must go run and cut off her hair. she now much pretend to be a boy.

this chapter was important and interesting because the head of the starks have now died and he h as been a very important character in the book and his leadership he has set in example for his children. i would say Ned is one of the last honorable character in the book and his death will make a big turning point on how the war will go and who will take the throne. everything and anything is up for grabs now and its seem like full fledged war now with Ned death, also the info Ned had known is now lost with his death, so no one but varys knows of Joff true father.

Sansa pg. 741

Summary
In this chapter, Sansa is depressed about her father's death and has been in her room and not left since her Ned died. After a while, Joffrey comes in to get her so she can join him in court later that day but Sansa refuses and Joffrey has Ser Meryn hit her because Cersi has told him that he should not hit her. Throughout the chapter, when Sansa does not do what Joffrey wants her to do Ser Meryn hits her and Joffrey also mocks Ned's death and threatens to kill Robb as well.

Importance
I believe that this chapter is important because of the change that Sansa's perspective takes. Throughout the book, Sansa is infatuated with Joffrey and all she wants is to be with him, marry him and have his children. However, in this chapter you can see that Sansa is growing bitter with Joffrey because he killed her dad. She doesn't see him as the sweet handsome charming prince that she used to anymore. She also does not want to be with him but has no other real choice.

I chose this chapter because Sansa's fairy tale that she had created and believed in her head is no longer and she has finally seeing reality. I think that part of her also might feel guilty for what she did by sending the letters to her family. Even though she is constantly beating, part of me still does not see the truth in all because at the end of the chapter she thinks " she was a good girl, and always remembered her courtesies."

Daenerys

In this chapter is about Daenery's and Drogo. Drogo is dies and Daenery's son dies as well. Danery's tells one of the sorcerers to cast a spell to bring Drogo back to life but it had a negative effect.Drogo was in state of the living and dead but he was a vegetable. She couldn't stand the fact that her husband no long is living or able to move in this world, so she push a cushion and his face. Her son, Rhaego had died deform with scale skin and wings. He had a body of a dragon. Daenery had a pyre funeral for Drogo.

This chapter is really sad. I feel bad for Daenerys she lost her husband and son on the same day.

Arya's Chapter

In this chapter Arya has been hiding in King's Landing.  She follows people towards the Great Sept of Baelor. She hears rumors about her father.  In Great Sept, Ned is brought to kneel to Joff and confess about being a traitor towards him.  After he confesses the high priest suggests that Joff would show mercy for Ned.  Joff orders Ned to be executed.  Varys and Cersi appear to be surprise so they try to stop him. Arya tries to help her father but they stop her and she sees her father's head being chopped off with ice.  Arya gets dragged away from the scene.  She ends up getting a hair cut from Yoren and now, she has to pretend she is a boy.

I honestly enjoyed this chapter because it shows that family is suppose to stick together.  I honestly think that it is hard that people have to try to be someone else to please others.  I think this chapter shows that in the mid evil life women are not a big part of society. They are only viewed as a way of reproducing.  This shows that people see potential in Arya so they try to help her by telling her to switch genders.

Bran pg729

Bran tells Luwin about a dream in which a three-eyed crow led him down into Winterfell’s crypts, where he found Ned. Later, Luwin and Bran visit the crypts, with Osha carrying Bran. Luwin and Bran tell Osha about the history of Winterfell’s rulers, or the Kings of Winter. When they come to Ned’s empty tomb. Rickon has had a dream similar to Bran’s. In his tower, Luwin tells the boys about the history of the North, the children of the forest, the First Men, and the Andals. A raven arrives with a letter. The bird has been attacked during its flight to Winterfell. Before Luwin even opens the letter, Rickon, Osha, and Bran know that it bears news of Ned’s death.
Bringing the three-eyed crow back is strange. What does the three-eyed crow symbolize?  After doing some research some people believe that the 3rd eye is full of terrible knowledge.

Daenerys (pg. 799)

In this chapter, Drogo is burned to death. While Daenerys watched Drogo burring, she had an urge to run into the fire and ask for his forgiveness, but she didn't, she let him burn. So, Daenerys and all of her servants prepare a funeral for Drogo. After the funeral, Daenerys lets all of her slaves and servants be free. But, she still wants them to to be her servants, so she tells them that if they continue to work for her, they will be rewarded. Next, Daenerys gives weapons away to some of her servants. As it is time to enter the funeral ceremony, the servants are worried than Daenerys will kill herself, but she tells them that she will not. Lastly, as Daenerys enters the room, she has 3 live dragons with her. This is a big deal because it is the first time that it has happened in a long time.

I loved this chapter and I thought this was a great ending to the book! I chose this chapter because I liked how Daenerys is completely in charge of everyone, and it really shows how fierce of a character she was! This chapter is important because it tells the end of the story that we were waiting for throughout the whole book. The most important part of this chapter was the very end, when the dragons came with Daenerys. There really is nothing that I disliked about this chapter. In conclusion, the one question I think that could be a topic of discussion for the class is: "Do you think Drogo deserved to be burned to death? Also, What do you think the significance of these dragons could be?"

Ned Stark

In this chapter, Ned is considering whether or not to actually confessing "the truth" to keep Sansa safe, or to stand firm with what Ned knows to be true. Ned is also visited by Varys, and Varys tells him he does not work for Cersei or anyone else but that he works for the good of the realm.

I thought this chapter was interesting because of how Ned had to think about what to do to be able to keep his honor. To me, it showed how much he cared for Sansa, with him not wanting to hurt her with his decision. It reminded me of how he was trying to get them out of King's Landing before all that went down.  I thought it was interesting how in that situation Ned was going to have the girls be taken by ship instead of the road because he sees just how dangerous the road will be. I also thought it was interesting that Sansa and Arya both ended up watching their father be executed, like how in the beginning Jon told Bran not to shut his eyes. It was also interesting that Arya was willing to go into the crowd with Needle to try and keep her father safe.

Daenerys

Summary: Daenerys has her servants prepare a funeral pyre for Drogo. Before she lights the fire, Daeners announces to her few remaining followers that they are freed from their slavery and their obligations, but if they continue to follow her, she will reward them. When the fire is finished burning, she emerges with three live dragons at her breast. It is the first time in hundreds of years that dragons have been alive in the realm. Her remaining followers kneel before her.

Deanerys, who intended to return to Westros and reatke the Iron Throne, now has dragons at her disposal, and the turn of events forshadows that Daenerys will succeed in taking control of westros. In other words, it will not be Daenery's son who turns out to be the stallion, as he is stillborn. It will more likely be the dragons, which the end of the novel shows Daenerys nursing as though they were her natural-born offspring.

Catelyn

Catelyn is reunited with Robb and his army and she really wants to send him home to be safe, but she knows she can't because he's kind of in charge now. She explains to him that Sansa's letter was dictated by Cersei and that they have to beat the Lannisters if they want to save Eddard, Sansa, and Arya. The Lannisters have badly beaten the Riverlands the Tully part of the Seven Kingdoms and destroyed Beric Dondarrion's force that Eddard sent out to beat Gregor's raids. But Robb has a plan that involves a decoy and a surprise attack. Robb wants Catelyn to go home but she says she needs to see her dying father. This shows how much family means to everyone throughout this book. You see everyone go through extremes just to satisfy or glorify their household name.

"DAENERYS"

The entire matter of breast feeding a dragon, (let alone a reptile, basically; cold-blooded: No mammalian sort of care What so ever comes across the specie), majorly disturbs me.  "When the fire died...surrounded by blackened logs and bits of glowing ember...covered with soot...clothes turned to ash...hair...crisped...yet she was unhurt.., (Page: 806)." It is mind boggling: fully impossible,  however evident that these animals have fully imprinted upon this woman. "...draped across her shoulders...neck coiled under her chin," (Page: 806)." Daenerys had certainly gained a sort of trust/protection. Quite so with her new "followers." "Blood of my blood," (One of The Same). An interesting lead on to the next series indeed.

Jon

Jon became a brother of the Night Watch titled with the job of being a steward. He didn't believe that he should be that, he thought he should be a ranger instead. Sam told him how he gets to be the one to know everything as if he was a right hand man, as a shadow of Lord Commander Mormont . Jon changed his mindset and  found out that his dad got titled treason. He couldn't believe it and continued to deny the worse. Which later put him in a dilemma; if Jon should go off and help and protect his family and potentially die for leaving his post or stay there and do his duty like an honorable man. He started hearing everyone talk about his father and found out it was Ser Allister that started it. Which led him to attacking him and ending up being locked in his cell for the night. With the circumstances that he was in, Mormont allowed Ghost to be in the cell with him. Later that night Ghost woke Jon up because of what was outside of the cell. Jon found that the cell was unlocked, the guard was dead and he was coming close to having to go head to head with the corpse that they brought back with them. It was a great fight, and he took what the other brothers said to do into consideration and burned the corpse to die fully.

I kind of put Jons' first two chapters of this section together because I felt it would make more sense. From the first part I already had a feeling it'd be a bad idea to move the corpse, let alone bring it back to the castle. Later on Mormont almost died because of it. This shows Jon even more of his importance as a steward is and I feel it'll show the higher in-command how important he is and might raise him to a ranger. He's a young man that goes off of instinct and doesn't second guess which I feel will earn him the utmost respect from everyone...even Ser Allister.

Sansa (pg. 542)

In this chapter, Sansa is grabbed from her room after 3 days. She strongly dislikes this confinement. She is not eating well, basically only bread, stew, cheese, chicken and greens. Sansa became frustrated when the servants refused to answer her questions about what was going on. Next Sansa finds out that Ned has been accused of treason. After this, Sansa becomes frustrated with Cersi and does not want to start any drama with Cersi, she wants to have a good reputation so she will still be able to marry Joff. Lastly, Sansa writes several letters to her people talking bad about Ned and saying that they need to come to the King's Landing to keep their reputation up so she can marry Joff.

I chose this chapter because Sansa is one of my favorite characters and she plays a big role in this chapter. I liked this chapter because it shows how Sansa feels so passionately about Joff, and she wants to keep his loyalty so they can get married. I like this because romance is my favorite type of stuff to read! The only thing I did not like about this chapter was that in the end Sansa was extremely upset about her father and what the Queen was telling her. I think this chapter could bring this discussion to the class: "Why do you think Sansa showed no emotion about Arya throughout the chapter? Why did she not think about her? Also, What do you think about Ned being accused of treason? Is that something expected that he would do?

Eddard pg.623

in this chapter, Ned is locked up in a dungeon because cersei believe he is a traitor, while Ned is in the Dung, Vary's come up and talk to Ned. Vary's explains how he know about Joff and cersei secret, why his action we deem as a traitor, and how cersei was alway plotting against robert from the start. toward the end of the chapter Vary's give Ned a decision. give up his honor and join Cersei so joffrey can take the crown or be deem as a traitor and let his daughter feel the wrath of  Cersei. Ned is very torn apart by the decision and doesn't know if his honor is more important than his family

i like this chapter because it left a big cliffhanger or open for question for Ned, what will Ned really do. i believe this decision will dictate the next upcoming event and who will really be on the throne. this chapter was also important because it gave a new perspective of Vary's and how he knows thing he shouldn't and is working behind the scene. saying he works for the "land of the kingdom"

Bran pg 568

Summary: This chapter is obviously a narrative from Bran's view. He talks about what is going on in Winterfell after the news of their father has been received. Robb has called the banners and is wine and dining the men to convince them to fight. At the end of the chapter, Bran is left as the Lord of Winterfell while Robb is away.

Reaction: I chose this chapter because I was growing anxious to know what would happen at Winterfell when they got the news, and this chapter answered plenty of questions. We learn what Robb has decided to do upon hearing about Ned. We also find out how crazy Rickon has become with both of his parents away. Some of the knights make fun of Robb for how green he is. It is mentioned that he may be so green that he pees grass. Also we learn that the direwolves have again come in handy, when Robb's wolf bites off two fingers of Greatjon. Greatjon then decides Robb has tough meat. He agrees to ride with him. Bran goes to pray when Osha comes. She is a slave sort of in the kitchen. She tells Bran that the real trouble is beyond the wall. She says, "He's marching the wrong way." I felt that this also indicated that things are spicing up beyond the wall and we will see a lot more coming from the north rather than the south. I also felt for Bran when he realized that he was left at Winterfell as the lord, and that no one would ever cheer for him the way the did in the town to Robb. Bran said he wanted to be a night and was encouraged to possibly become a maester. Which is sort of a knight of the mind.

Arya

Arya was training with a guy name Syrio and then the training stop because a crew of Lannister's guards barging in.The guards tell Arya that her father wanted to see her. Arya knew her father wouldn't send the guards after her, she knows something is wrong. Syrio helps defend Arya and he manages to dodge their sword. He is also a quick swordsman. Syrio had manage to kill most of the men except one. He constantly tells Arya to go see her father immediately. The stable boy is trying to stop Arya for a reward from the queen but he is killed in the process by her. The gates are closed and surrounded by guards, Arya has to find another way to leave the castle and go back to winterfell.

This chapter is important because in Arya's situation, trust no one but yourself. There is a lot of double crossing and killing.

Arya

in this chapter Arya figure out that some men are plotting against king Robert and people are plotting to kill Ned Stark. she was training when she overheard some people and went to hide and was founded a maze under the castle. while listen Arya overheard people trying to take Robert thorne, and what can buy them more time so they can execute their plan to take the throne. when Arya find out they want to kill her dad, she leave the maze and alerts of dad about what she has heard. Ned does not believe in her

this chapter is important because i believe it foreshadows the future of the book and the course of the novel. This also shows about people are plotting against the crown and all the other noble families. we dont know who these men were trying to plot but i believe they are reasonable for thge death of Jon Arryn

Jon and the Black Wall

The part I thought was interesting was when the brothers and Jon were coming back from the search in the woods.  This is when Jon was thinking how he was able to be "a ranger for a day, at least. What ever may come, they cannot take that away from me" (Martin 467).  I also wanted to talk about how slightly before they were returning to the wall when Ghost was returning to Jon and Ghost had found the hand and was gnawing on the hand. The rangers eventually find the 2 people that were out with Benjen Stark, when that group of rangers went missing.  Ghost helped the rangers find the 2 guys that were out in the cold and Sam tells the group that the people were not newly dead because they would have stains all over the ground, instead they do not have stains all over the ground, but there were no stains at all.
I choose to talk about this part, because I love how Sam spoke up when he noticed that something wasn't right with the stains when the other guys were talking about how the people were probably freshly killed.  I thought it was interesting, because even when the people were trying to decide what to do with the bodies they just decided to take their bodies back to Maester Aemon. I thought this was interesting because they knew the signs of the wildlings, and knew that they had blue eyes and that animals would not go around them.

Eddard pg 628

Summary
In this Chapter, it is basically what is going on with Ned while everyone else is in battle or preparing for battle. Ned is being kept in a dungeon under the Red Keep.Ned does not how ling he has been there and also isn't being fed or giving water. throughout the chapter, Ned tries his hardest to keep sane. finally someone comes in gives him water but does not speak to him. Later someone comes and gives him wine which ends up being Varys. Varys lets Ned know of what is going on and that Sansa asked for his forgiveness and advice Ned to take it and accept Joffrey as King.

Importance
I believe that this chapter is important because of the information that Varys gives Ned. it allows Ned to ponder on what his actions will be once Cersei comes to him. This allows the story to change because if Varys would have not giving Ned this information Ned might react different when Cersei confronts him. I feel like Ned's perspective is sort of changing and he is in a way angry with himself for being the honorable man that he is because it was gotten him in some trouble like Varys points out "when i see what honesty and honor have won you, i understand why"

I chose this chapter because it leaves the reader with a sort of anxious questionable feeling on what is going to happen to Ned and what is the decision that Ned will make. As the reader you have two questions: Will Ned stick with his honesty and continue to be honorable? and What is Ned's fate? Will he fight back? Also i think that it is interesting to see that a Lord can be stripped of his title and rights and be giving to the Night's Watch. This chapter continuous with the topic of roles and loyalty. the role that character in the book is playing to either help or make the situation worse,

Bran pg568

Robb is assembling an army at Winterfell. The Starks get a bunch of stories about the events at King’s Landing, all rumors with parts truth and lies. Robb and Bran receive their letter from Sansa, which proclaims their father a traitor. Bran reflects that Sansa has lost her wolf, and that Starks who go south never return. Osha tells him that the old gods of the northerners have no power in the South. She warns Bran that the real trouble is to the north, beyond the Wall, where the giants and the Others roam. When Robb leaves Winterfell, he tells Bran that he is now Lord of the Winterfell until Robb or Ned returns.
Bran is now Lord!!! What a young kid, this is crazy that he is lord. Will Robb or Ned return? This is the question.

Jon Pg. 515

Summary: Sam is excited to learn that he is going to be promoted along with Jon and their friends. Despite Jon's fighting skills, he is made steward to Commander Mormont. Sam explains that Jon's position as Commander Mormont's steward indicates that Jon is being trained to be a leader. As soon as they take their oaths, Ghost returns with man's hand in his mouth.

On the wall, Jon gets a hard lesson in fairness. to his great disappointment, Jon learns that he is made to be the steward to Lord Commander Mormont and he is furious at what he perceives as the injustice of the move. Because he is a highly skilled fighter, better than any other recruits by far, he believes he should be a ranger as his uncle Benjen is, and he thinks his placement among the stewards is Thorne's way of getting back at him for his disobedience.

Arya

In this passage Arya, has found out that her father is died. She found this out because when she was practicing with her sword master, the  Lannister  men in arms went to get her. She knew that something was wrong, because her father would never sent them to come get her. She was told to run, but she didn't know what was going on. She was scared and she knew she needed to get out of there and go home no matter what happened. She ended up killing a stable boy because he was going to send her to the Queen that wanted her dad.

Arya didn't once thing about her sister, because of what her sister has done to her. Arya isn't like her sister she knows how to stand up for herself. When the Lannister men game to get her she stood up for herself, while her sword master was fighting the Lannister men. Arya was on her own really on her own this time, she has always felt like she was on her own but this time is was real. She know what she needed to do, she had to run and stand on her own. She kept thing about what her sword master has taught her and said to her. "Fear hurts more then the sword" she knew she couldn't be scared. She even killed a stable boy because he was going to take her to the Queen who was going to kill her, well at least that's what she thought.

Sansa's Chapter

In this chapter Cersei takes Ned as a prisoner and Sansa stays in here room for three days.  Cersei confronts Sansa before the council and tells her that Ned was accused of treasome.  Cersei thanks Sansa since she told her that Ned was going to send her(Sansa) and Arya away to Winterfell.  Since Sansa wanted to prove that she is not a traitor so secure her marriage with Joff, so she decided to write four letters.  The letter were going to be sent through Cersei.  She wrote the letters to Catelyn, Lysa, Robb, and Sansa’s grandfather telling them that Ned was a traitor and that her family needs to come to Kings Landing to swear their loyalty to Joff. However, after she finished writing the letters; she realized that she forgot to ask if Arya was safe.

The reason I chose this chapter was because we are able to see that humans make decisions based on the judgment of others..  However, we care about our happiness as well and how our actions will make us look.  In this chapter we are able to see that women are manipulated.  The reason is because since back in this time period women were not "trustable" and you were not able to actually make decisions for anyone and they had no say.  Also, I did not like how she asked her family to go to Kings Landing only so they could swear loyalty to Joff, because family should always come first, unless happiness has been involved.

Eddard pg 523

This chapter discusses the death of king Robert. With Robert dead Ned plans to take the throne, being that was the kings final wish. But as he is about to escort young Joffery down from the throne, the queen tears up Roberts will and basically says to Ned that a piece of paper is not enough to help him. Then young Joffery orders his men to kill of Ned's men.
This chapter is a giant slap in the face to Ned and his nobility to serve the king. Ned is only interested in the good of their little world and is trying to help the realm out by taking the throne until Joffery is of age, but young and foolish Joffery doesn't see it that way and starts burning bridges the second he sits on the throne. I like this chapter because I think it is ironic how everyone wanted to serve the previous king robert so well, yet they cant even honor his last words. Another thing I find ironic is that little finger ends up betraying Ned and saying " i did warn you not to trust me", which is true but poor little Ned apparently didn't take it to heart. Lastly this chapter illustrates a resent day phenomena, which is the thirst for power that we all have inside of us, and how far we are willing to go, and degrade ourselves just to get a little taste of power and prestige.

"DAENERYS"

From this chapter I strongly noted on an almost peacefulness/balance Dany and others have with the animals & nature; cultural respect using "nomadic," names. That is until I read on...
"...taking a harvest of heads from the dead and dying, (Page: 665)." Appalling aggression; entirely violent. "...the man's head went tumbling from his shoulders, (Page: 668)." Almost too gruesome for me to continue reading. "...bloody flesh dangled from his chest...,(Page: 669)." Once more, the mentioning of suffering, intensified, I as a reader left only with the imagination: "...pain you will have...,(Page: 674)." Threatening gathered within the text of 674, referring to the SIMPLE act of drinking a wine. "DAENERYS," appearing to only contain horrible, fully detailed, demise.

Tyrion

I really liked the chapters that Tyrion was in, in the chapters that we read for this week. I like his chapters because of how he was able to come up with a way to save his life by talking his way out of it and then saying that he wanted a trial by champion. Bronn then offers to stand in for him, for the duel. I liked how Tyrion realized that there was a way out even, when he felt like the only way out was down the 600 foot fall to death. I thought it was interesting that Lady Lysa was willing to have her son rule over his judgement when he is a little boy and mentally younger than his age.  Then Tyrion comes up with the duel for trial idea which was a better idea than the other.

Eddard pg 480

Summary:
In this chapter, we see Eddard's point of view. He has finally figured out that all of the children belong to Jaime rather than Robert. With this information, he plans to tell Robert when he returns from the hunt. First, he wants to warn Cersei only so she can run with the children. She definitely does not take the chance to leave, after Ned meets with her and tells her under the tree.

Reaction:
This chapter was pretty shocking, which is why I chose it. I was not so surprised that the children were purebred Lannister, but I was shocked with Cersei. When Ned gave the note to be delivered we didn't know who it was for until she showed up at the tree. Ned comes clean and points out how he deduced who the children's father really was. After Ned says that he MUST tell Robert, Cersei propositions him. She says, "If friends can become enemies, then enemies can become friends." She continues to point out that their lovers are both far away. She even touches his face. This disgusted me. Then later she says, that she was in fact pregnant with Roberts child before, but that, "[Her] brother found a woman to cleanse her." She is a terrible woman. We find out that the reason she hated Robert so much was not only because she is madly in love with her brother, but because on their wedding night Robert called Lyanna's name in bed. The last shocking disgusting thing about Cersi, is when she says, "When [Jaime] is inside me I feel...whole." She believes that because they shared a womb together that they are in fact one person in two bodies. I understand that the incest is considered keeping the line pure, but the fact that she is proud that her children are not Robert's and how she is guilt-free shows just how evil and sick she really is.

GOT: Tyrion pg. 410

Summary:In this chapter, Tyrion is suffering in jail. While Mord is tormenting him, Tyrion refuses to eat even though he is starving. Tyrion gets so frustrated with Mord that he starts to yell and curse at his and Mord does not take it well. He begins to kick Tyrion and drives a steel-toed boot hard into Tyrion's ribs. While wondering what was going on outside of the walls of his cell, Tyrion ponders more about the killings of Bran and Jon Arryn. Finally after much suffering, Tyrion tells Mord that he wants to confess his crimes. He did so, but only confessed to the little crimes he has committed.

Analysis: I like this chapter because of all of the jail action that is going on. I enjoyed reading about how Tyrion was treated by Mord, and how he also rebelled against Mord a little bit and was feisty towards him. This chapter is important to the entire book because it made me think about what Tyrion's family is doing while he is in jail, and if it's really an "advantage" like he thinks it is. There is nothing I did not like about this chapter. I think that this could bring up this question for the class: When will Tyrion get out of jail? What will happen when he gets out? Should he get out of jail or stay there?

Dany

In the beginning of this chapter Dany had witnessed a city with no walls and building. Wondering what is the whole point of putting a wall when their is nothing surround it. Days ago Dany and Visery had got into a fight and she left Visery to travel on his feet. The Dorthraski were mocking Visery. Drogo offered Visery to go to the cart, where the crippled, old and young had stayed at but he is unaware of it. The whole crew were heading to  find their homeland which is underneath the mountain. They come across a black dragon statue, Dany was memorized by the beauty. Visery had a different point of view from Dany, he thought the city is filthy and trashy. Dany made sure no one heard Visery's negative comments about the city. One of the knights had warn Dany about her brother's selfishness and the fact that he doesn't belong to the khal. Visery wants ten thousand men from Drogo but Drogo thought Dany was a gift. Visery is growing impatient that he doesn't have his men yet. Khals offer gifts but if Visery demands it, the aftermath wouldn't be good. Ser Jorah tells Dany about the history of the lost city, that city was built by slaves. Visery is upset, he questioning his sister about the supper situation. He starts threatening her, even though she was trying to help her brother. She grabbed a belt and whacked Visery in the face.

This chapter is important because Dany is standing up to her brother. Visery is a negative and selfish brat. He deserved to be whack in the face because Dany was trying to help. He didn't like the offered that Dany had given him.

Eddard pg 480

Summary
In this chapter, Eddard is impatiently waiting for Robert to come back from hunting. He is also preparing his leave back to Winterfell but he wants to make sure that he finishes on getting his answer to why Jon Arry died. Eddard arranges to meet with Cersi and that is when all of his suspicions are put to rest. Cersi admits that he is sleeping with her brother and that all three children are Jaime's kids and not Roberts and that she did get pregnant once by Robert but had an abortion. Cersi also admits to hurting Bran because he caught her and Jaime having sex. Eddard tells Cersi that he will tell the king all the information he knows.

Importance of Chapter
I believe that this chapter is important within the context of the larger story because Ned finds out the truth. He finds out what really and who and why happened to his son, Bran. But what i think is most interesting is that Cersi finally admits to it all and that makes me question her motives like why did she admit to it? Since she did admit to it, why did she say it straight up to Ned? What is she planning on doing now? In this chapter, you can see how Ned in a way finds Cersi to be soft and beautiful and a woman "Her every move was graceful. Her curling blond hair moved in the wind, and her eyes were green as the leaves of summer. it had been a long time since Ned Stark had seen her beauty, but he saw it now." pg 485 Though he sees her that way, it does not change how he feels about her. I also think that it will be interesting if or when Ned does go tell Robert this information what his reaction will be. Part of me thinks that he will dismiss Ned and became angry even though Robert probably knows what Ned is telling him true. Or Robert will want to give up the throne since he is secretly bitter and unhappy with being King.

"TYRION"

Looking back at this chapter, to summarize, I feel that blatant abuse, reoccurring in the form sexism, essentially falls over ANY person socially different. Food not provided, nor proper, (during the era), care; blankets. (ANYTHING had not been given). "Your silver is ours. Your horses are ours...the knife at your belt." "...seize the half-man." (page: 460), clearly demonstrated corrupt/ backwards, lightly put "social order." Blatantly, disgusting behavior.

Game of Thrones: Eddard pg. 378

Summary: Ned wonders what he should do regarding his realization about Joff. He knows that Robert would be furious, but Ned must tell him. He arranges a meeting with Cersei in the godswood and tells her that he knows that truth Jon died for: that Jamie-not Robert- fathered Joff, Myrella, and Tommen. She tells Ned "When you play the game of thrones, you win or die."

Ned by this point is completely embroiled in what is referred as the "game of thrones," but his adherence to principle and reluctance to be brutal ends in him losing. The kingdom's laws governing succession to the throne take precedence over any personal feelings Ned may and even take precedence over what may be best for the kingdom.

Eddard

In this chapter Ned gains his consciousness six days after he breaks his leg.  However, Jaime has fled the city and Robert and Cersei come to visit Ned after he has been conscious for a while.  Cersei accuses Ned of getting drunk at a warehouse confronting Jaime and Ned tells Robert that he was visiting the bastard. Ned ends up being angry at the king because he feels like there is no justice.  Cersei gets mad and insults Robert by telling him that she should be the one in charge since he is not doing his job right but Robert hits her as the punishment for being disrespectful.

This chapter is important within the larger context of the story because we are able to see that Cersei is getting annoyed with everything that is going on.  However, when Cersei insults Robert he hits her as the punishment and she becomes angry.  I think it would be interesting to see what would happen next because Cersei is kind of always seeking revenge for things that have been done.  This shows that women do not get any type of respect during the midevil life because in today's society that would have been considered assault and the person would have faced either a fine or jail time.

Daenerys

Daenerys has done a lot of growing up, in this passage she and the Dothrakis are travelling to where they live. Before they get there, they travel throw this land that has everything that the Dothrakis had stolen from other lands. Daenerys was amazed at all the beautiful things, she also was in dismay at how disturbing some of the things where. A lot of the items that the Dothrakis had stolen were staguse. After getting to the Mother Land, Daenerys wanted to have supper with her bother and give him some gifts that she got for him, when he got there he was already mad by the way Daenerys had one of her lady slaves get him. Then he attracted her but she fought back.

In the passage Daenerys stands up for self to her brother. She also feels like she is fitting in with the Dothrakis, she even says that she is one of them now. At the end of this passages she fells her baby kick, but for some reason she thinks the baby is going to be a boy. But as the baby is kicking she is holding a dragon stone, so she thinks that baby is the rightful dragon king not her brother. I think before she has this baby that King Robert is going to have someone try and kill her. When this happens it will start a war between the Dothrakis and the seven kingdoms which is what Daenerys' brother wants. But I also thing that might happen is if there is war between the Dothrakis and the seven kingdoms Daenerys' brother is going to die and her son will really become the true king of the dragon not her brother.

Tyrion p.342

Tyrion gets captured by the Stark kingdom. Catelyn is the one who put him under arrest. Lysa gets irritated by Tyrion's sarcastic tongue and his arrogance and was ready to kill him on site. Tyrion bribes Mord to do a favor for him, which was send word to Catelyn so he can plead his innocence. It all was a spontaneous idea... just a way for him to get out of the open dungeon. He soon realizes that there isn't any mercy around him when he talks with Lysa about getting a fair trial. Overall, everyone's skeptical of him because they know he likes to play mind games to get his way. It seems like it was helping him thus far.

I chose this section because Tyrion is becoming a big part of the reading and he ties two powerful families together, since he's apart of the Lannister kingdom. The Lannisters are very powerful and he's hoping that his connection within will persuade everyone not to kill him. The thing I liked about this section was how it shows that the idea of money can open new possibilities for someone in this book. Everyone see's that money ultimately brings power. A discussion it introduces to the class is the connection of a community.

Bran pg 396

Using the saddle Tyrion designed, Bran rides outside of Winterfell’s walls with Robb and Guards (some Winterfell men). Robb tells Bran how Jaime attacked Ned. Robb and Theon have considered calling on the houses loyal to Winterfell to prepare for war. After Theon and the other men fall behind, Robb leaves Bran to find their direwolves. While Bran is alone six wildlings find Bran. They plan to steal Bran’s possessions and kill him. Robb and the wolves return in time to defend Bran. The fight that follows ends with one wildling holding Bran at knifepoint. Theon finally returns and kills the wilding from behind with an arrow. At Luwin’s suggestion, Robb does not kill the surviving wildling but they bring her back to winterfell .

Wow these dierwolfs are very protective, Robb does a great job with the fight. I was like where the hell are the “Guards” at but they finally come and save Bran’s life.

jon pg444

This chapter is all about the wall and  the night watch. Jon and many others get "promoted" out of training to make room for the new recruits that are going to be coming in. But, Sam is left behind, he has to stay in training which has him feeling down. Jon decides to go talk to someone with power about getting Sam out of training and into some kind of position where Sam will be using his intellect vs. his physical abilities like the others.
This chapter from Jon's point of view is important because it demonstrates his feelings towards those who are commonly left out, in this chapter for example he feels he must care for and protect Sam because no one else will. My view on this is that since Jon is the bastard child, he knows what it feels like to be left out, to have no one care for you, so he is determined to not stand by and let someone else feel the way he does. He goes as far as to wake up and elderly man in the middle of the night, despite the disgruntled servant boy that urges him to leave, and then convince him that even though Sam is not physically fit, he is very intelligent and could help with things around said old mans house. These are all reasons that I like this chapter, it sends a strong message that even though you might not be ideal for one particular job/duty, doesn't means there aren't plenty more out there that you might be excellent at, or as Jon said "Why kill one, to no end? make use of him instead." This chapter illustrates a problem that we face today, Sam being a little pudgy and undesirable doesn't get the attention that he needs so therefore continues to fail, like in the real world, people that are more attractive are more likely to make more money and get promotions sooner than those of lesser attractiveness. Its even easier to get hired in some cases due to how attractive you are.

Jon

Summary

This chapter is about Jon when they get the new recruiter in the team name Sam. He came up on the wrong time when they were training and one of the nights attacked him. He lost the fat because he was fat and couldn't help himself. Jon stepped up, and defended him because he didn't like how they were treating the new guy. Sam told them something he never told anyone, he admit that he was a coward. Everyone was surprise that he called himself a coward. After he took a walk with Jon to the wall and shared a story with him about how he got there. Sam’s father wanted his son to be an heir because he was a bastard son and the other option was for Sam to get murder. So Jon also shared a story of how he got there. Jon and Sam became brother through what they been doing sense their own brother were step brothers didn't like them.

Reaction

First of all I like Jon how he cares about other and will protect other to not get harmed. Look over each other and can relate with other. I can see myself being like him because I’m the type who will watch someone being bully but if it goes to the next level I’ll step in a stop everything. Even if it takes the fun out everyone else. Safety is something that I really worry about. Sam joining the night wasn't really a choice he had to make, and treating him like that the first day of his job wasn't a really good welcome specially when the saw him as a fat boy who couldn't even help himself. They didn't had to welcome him like and it was nice for Jon helping him and letting him know what to do. I can also see myself as Sam also because I’ll let people know who I am, and don’t care what they think because I’m me. No one can control who I am but me. Sam doing that was a great thing as a man to do.

Jon pg 259

In this chapter, sir throne is jealous of Jon because Jon is teaching some of the other watchmen about swordplay. a new recruit by the name of Samwell is out against another watchmen and is being brutality beat. Sir Thorne tell his watchmen to keep on beating Samwell until Jon interrupts its and command the watchmen to stop. the watchmen stopped and Sir throne is angry because his men took command from Jon. this is a big part of the book for character development. Jon is trying to enforce new rules and a new brotherhood in the watch because right now it is very different then what he expected. having the watch just be a place for bad people, Jon wants to restore the honor in the watch. i believe this is important to the book because it seem like Jon is taking a commanding role at the watch. with his uncle gone i feel that Jon will be the next in command and out throw sir Thorne and his cruel ways. this chapter interested me because Jon being my favorite character, he growing up and become more of a 'man' taking more responsibility on his self to better the watch and its men.

eddard pg 305

In this chapter, Ned is at the tournament for the hand. It is the second day of the tournament, and the day before a young boy had died. Ned took his death hard. Ned convinces Robert not to fight in the tournament. The reader gets to see the relationship between Robert and Ned, realizing how close they could be. There is a brutal fight between the Hound and his brother. The hound is the victor of the lance part of the tourney. When Ned makes it back to his room he gets a visitor. The visitor is Varys and he has a lot more information.

I always love Ned's chapters. I feel like I get the most of the scoop when I read his chapters. I love to see how compassionate Ned's character is. He is also very quick. "Slain by a Lannister bannerman before Ned could even speak to him; could that be happenstance? He supposed he would never know." Later in the chapter we find out from Varys that the young squire was a big part of Jon Arryn's death before he was knighted. He was in fact killed before Ned could have spoke to him for a reason. We get to see a comical view of Robert and realize how bored he is in his position and how he misses his thrills. He also releases some intimate information about his relationship with Cersei and how he regards his son. Robert says he has dreamed of giving up the throne but the thing that stops him is..."The thought of Joffrey on the throne..." After this they continue to breakfast and then to finish the rest of the tournament. The entire tournament through Ned and Sansa's point of view reminded me of the movie Knights Tale. Especially when they tell Robert that no one would fight him they would let him win. Reminded me of the prince that wanted to joust but everyone would forfeit. The is a sticky situation with Sandor Clegane and the Knight of Flowers. Sandor's temperament is exposed. I had seen the Hound as such an evil character until this chapter. Once all was finished the conversation with Varys and Ned was the most important part to me. We find out that some of the people we like are not trustable and we find out the Lannisters wanted Robert to fight so they could kill him. Varys thinks that Ned is really tho only friend of Robert's. Another attempt for Robert's life is imminent but they do not have any hard evidence to put before the king. At the very end of the chapter we realize that the boy that died in the tournament had to be the one that poisoned Jon Arryn, and he used Tears of Lys to do so. Now he was slain to keep the secret hidden.

Eddard

Everyone in this chapter remembers the tragedy that happen to Lord Arryn. It is said the Lord Arryn had died of an illness. Ned had suspected that Lord Arryn natural death was no accident, he thinks that someone might of poisoned him. Maester Colemon felt like something had twisted his stomach inside. The season is a very hot summer. There has been a lot questions and answers between Ned and Pycelle. Ned is asking Pycelle Lord Arryn whereabouts before the night he died.  After the conversation had ended Ned ran into his daughter Arya, who is trying to pose like a water dancer. Arya is worried about her brother Bran and wanted to know if he come live in the castle with her but her father told her Bran needed to recover. Ned fears that Bran wouldn't be the same, he will become a crippled boy. As night falls, Sansa is having a sweet dream about Bran, that he is going to be a knight. Arya and Ned got into an argument because he suggested Arya should marry a king and rule his castle together and she refused. Ned had told Littlefinger that he was grateful for his help but he was wrong to distrust him.

This chapter is very important because it Ned thinks that someone did poison Lord Arryn. Ned questioning to Pycelle, which made it feel like interrogating situation.  His daughter Arya refused to be a kings wife because she wants to be a knight and everyone thinks she is a boy. Ned is afraid that Bran wouldn't develop fully because he had "fallen" from the tower. Bran would be crippled for life. He couldn't do a performance of a knight or make love to a women ever.

Catelyn and Ser Rodrik

This chapter was about how ser Rodrik and Lady Catelyn are trying to go over to the Inn that she stayed at while she was little.  While at this Inn, Tyrion Lannister comes in and tries to strike up a conversation with Catelyn. Then Catelyn has Tyrion arrested

I Thought it was interesting how Catelyn was ever-so-subtly finding the respect of everyone in the room. When she started hearing sniggering from Tyrion. I though it was cool how she pretty much made him think she did not know about the knife and then at the end of the chapter had all the people that had served her family arrest Tyrion. When all the knives were drawn I thought it was a cool example of the respect of the Tully/Starks people had in the room, along with how they did not fancy the thought of kids being hurt. I thought it was interesting the wench didn't recognize Catelyn for half of their visit.

Jon Page 259

While Jon and the other boys are training at the Wall, Sam Tarly arrives. Thorne immediately orders Sam to fight Halder, and Halder easily defeats Sam. Sam stops fighting, but Thorne orders Halder to continue the beating Sam. Jon steps forward to defend Sam, and at Thorne’s orders Halder, Albett, and Rast fight and lose to Jon, Grenn, and Pyp. Sam says that he is a coward, and Jon respects him to face the hard truth. Sam tells Jon that he came to join the Night’s Watch because his father wanted his youngest son to be his heir, so he told Sam he had to leave for the Wall or he would murder him. Jon shares a story with Sam about a recurring dream in which Jon walks through a deserted Winterfell until he ends up deep inside the castle’s chamber(Jail/Death). Jon convinces the other guys on the wall to go easy on Sam in training because the Sam is such a bad fighter.

Jon pg. 259

In this chapter, Jon is approached by a big fat guy named Sam Taly. Sam informs the men that he was sent to the wall for some training. He is ordered to fight Halder, which did not seem like a fair fight. Halder is 16 years old, tall, and skinny. Sam is fat and doesn't know how to fight. With that being said, he lost miserably. Sam opens up to Jon and tells him about his dad and tells him why he joined the Night's Watch. Jon listens and starts to like Halder, and feels bad about the brutal beat down he got from Halder that day.

I picked this chapter because I liked Sam's character a lot. It seems like he knows that he can't fight, he even admits that he's a coward. I like that about him because it shows that he is not trying to act like something he is not. This chapter is important to the book because it shows violence in a different type of way. Although the boys are always fighting at the wall, they were approached with something new in this chapter to deal with. (Sam Taly). I think this chapter could relate to the violence issue we have been talking about in class. Why did Halden continue to beat Sam when he was already winning? What was the point of this fight?

Game of Thrones: Jon Pg. 259

Summary:While Jon and the other boys are training at the wall, Sam Tarly arrives. Throne immediately orders Sam to fight Halder, and Halder easily dominates the fat, scared new recruit. Sam yields, but Throne orders Halder to continue the beating. Jon steps forward to defend Sam, and at Throne's orders Halder, Rast, and Albett fight and lose to Jon. That night, Jon convinces the other boys to go easy on Sam in training because the boy is such a poor fighter.

I picked this chapter because I thought it was very interesting. I was very interested when Jon beat those three guys. This chapter is important because it shows that Sam is a poor fighter. The topic that happens in this chapter that we have discussed in class is the violence in the media.

Eddard starting in "Robert, I beg of you"

The majority of this chapter takes place with the king Robert and the council (including Eddard). The topic being discussed by the council is whether they should kill Daenerys or not. Robert is all for letting this woman of only 14 being assassinated, and many of the others agree saying that she must receive a "steel kiss". The only one sticking up for this young pregnant woman is Eddard, who thinks it is cowardice in two ways, the fact that they feel so threatened by an unborn child that they must kill it and also the fact that Robert wont carry out the murder himself.
Seeing things from from Eddard's point of view in this chapter is important because you discover even more about his character, how honorable and noble he is. He goes as far as to argue with his king just because his moral compass is so strong in defining what is wrong and what is right. He thinks it is cowardice to have a 14 year old girl murdered which doesn't say too much on its own, but the fact that he is able to stand up for what he believes in sends a strong message. Once it is settled that they shall indeed kill this woman Ned thinks that it should be Robert's responsibility and that he should have to "hear her last words" and "see her tears" which is an incredibly brave thing, its one thing to have someone killed but to have to actually kill them must be a totally different story. All of those things is why I chose this chapter, Ned's immense amount of  courage, bravery, honesty etc. is inspiring and once again sends a strong message that goes beyond the book. We have all seen the studies done on how Americans or just people in general don't like confrontation, so instead of stepping in and stopping something bad from happening they will just keep walking and pretend it never happened, no matter the severity of the incident. But this chapter illustrates how things should work in society, how we should step in and voice our opinions, let what we think be heard. Yes it might not be taken into consideration or acknowledged but at least you will have a clear conscience and know that you tried to do what was right.

Arya

In this chapter Arya was catching cats as part of Syrio's training when princess Myrcella and Tommen discover her.  They did not recognize her because she escaped through a window and runs into the maze underneath the castle. Along the way she hears two men talking, she hid and listened.  The armored man implies that they are running out of time, since the wolf and the lion are at each other’s throats and more players are entering the game. The man with the forked beard says they need more time, and that Drogo will not attack until Daenerys’ son is born.  The man with the forked beard also implies that they should kill Ned if it will buy time. When Arya finds her way out of the castle’s underground maze , she tells her father what she heard between the two men, but he doesn't believe her.

This chapter is important within the larger story of the book because we are not sure who those men were and what they are exactly trying to do.  These men could play an important part within the story further down the line.  I chose this chapter because it shows the bravery that Arya has and it shows that she is trying to put all the effort into the training that she was given from Syrio.  It also shows that she has started to grow and mature because she did not freak out when encountering anyone but she tried to make the smartest decision and kept quiet when needed to. I believe that she will do anything in her power to try to prove to her father down the line that she was right.  I think this plays in gender inequality because at the beginning of the book it was said "do not believe what comes out of a women's tit," and I think that her father did not want to believe her because she is a girl and a child as well.

Game of Thrones

I chose the chapter of Deanery’s because through this chapter its shows how much she has really grown not only as her own person but also as a Khaleesie. Through the chapter there are many cases where this is proved like the time when her brother tried to ruin her and was almost killed by her guard. This would of never happened if she wasn't starting to like the power. Her showing resistance to her brother shows that there has been a complete change of power. Instead of Viserys controlling her life and treating her poorly she is standing up for herself and becoming her own person. A woman with her abilities can do a lot of harm. I feel is she keeps getting more confident and gathers a large enough army she may end up ruling all seven kingdoms.

Arya pg. 338

Summary
Arya is trying to catch a cat that had been part of her assignment from Syrio and Princess Myrcella and Prince Tommen show up and think that she is a boy and to avoid from getting into trouble Arya escapes through a window. While Arya is trying t figure out where she is at she hears the voices of two men talking. she does not recognize either men but is listening to what they are saying. The two men talk about that there might be war between the wolf and the lion and that the King's Hand might die if he found out the truth by reading the book. Arya followed the men to keep listening and to use the light from their torch. She finally reaches the castle and gets escorted to her father's room, where she tells him what she has heard. Her father is skeptical of what Arya is saying but their conversation get interrupted by a visit from Yoren who is part of the Night's Watch.

Importance of Chapter
This chapter is important within the context of the larger story because it gives a set of information to the character that the reader is aware of. Since Arya is not aware of this information and does not truly understand what this information she goes and shares this information. And with all that is going on with Ned with his suspicion of Jon Arry's death and Bran's accident, it makes him question what his daughter is saying "Arya what are you talking about? who said this?" even though he is not entirely sure what it is that she is saying. Also, by having two men talk about Daenerys pregnancy, the King's Hand, the book and Jon (the Bastard) gives an indication that people are aware that there is trouble brewing with the Lords and the King as well.
I chose this Chapter because it shows how much Arya is taking her training seriously  "She pretended that  Syrio was beside her in the dark whispering in her ear. Calm as still water.." and how little interest she truly has in being a princess or some day a queen. She is often mistaken for a boy and not only that but  a peasant. She always look dirty that people do not think that she has a place in the castle.  Arya is so wrapped up in her training that she seems to be oblivious of her surroundings and what everyone else is doing. Also, towards the end of the chapter we see information of what is happening in the book exchanged by two men and i think that it will play a role on what is to come later in the book.
