Eddard pg 480

Summary:
In this chapter, we see Eddard's point of view. He has finally figured out that all of the children belong to Jaime rather than Robert. With this information, he plans to tell Robert when he returns from the hunt. First, he wants to warn Cersei only so she can run with the children. She definitely does not take the chance to leave, after Ned meets with her and tells her under the tree.

Reaction:
This chapter was pretty shocking, which is why I chose it. I was not so surprised that the children were purebred Lannister, but I was shocked with Cersei. When Ned gave the note to be delivered we didn't know who it was for until she showed up at the tree. Ned comes clean and points out how he deduced who the children's father really was. After Ned says that he MUST tell Robert, Cersei propositions him. She says, "If friends can become enemies, then enemies can become friends." She continues to point out that their lovers are both far away. She even touches his face. This disgusted me. Then later she says, that she was in fact pregnant with Roberts child before, but that, "[Her] brother found a woman to cleanse her." She is a terrible woman. We find out that the reason she hated Robert so much was not only because she is madly in love with her brother, but because on their wedding night Robert called Lyanna's name in bed. The last shocking disgusting thing about Cersi, is when she says, "When [Jaime] is inside me I feel...whole." She believes that because they shared a womb together that they are in fact one person in two bodies. I understand that the incest is considered keeping the line pure, but the fact that she is proud that her children are not Robert's and how she is guilt-free shows just how evil and sick she really is.
