In this chapter Arya was catching cats as part of Syrio's training when princess Myrcella and Tommen discover her. They did not recognize her because she escaped through a window and runs into the maze underneath the castle. Along the way she hears two men talking, she hid and listened. The armored man implies that they are running out of time, since the wolf and the lion are at each other’s throats and more players are entering the game. The man with the forked beard says they need more time, and that Drogo will not attack until Daenerys’ son is born. The man with the forked beard also implies that they should kill Ned if it will buy time. When Arya finds her way out of the castle’s underground maze , she tells her father what she heard between the two men, but he doesn't believe her.
This chapter is important within the larger story of the book because we are not sure who those men were and what they are exactly trying to do. These men could play an important part within the story further down the line. I chose this chapter because it shows the bravery that Arya has and it shows that she is trying to put all the effort into the training that she was given from Syrio. It also shows that she has started to grow and mature because she did not freak out when encountering anyone but she tried to make the smartest decision and kept quiet when needed to. I believe that she will do anything in her power to try to prove to her father down the line that she was right. I think this plays in gender inequality because at the beginning of the book it was said "do not believe what comes out of a women's tit," and I think that her father did not want to believe her because she is a girl and a child as well.
