In this chapter Ned gains his consciousness six days after he breaks his leg. However, Jaime has fled the city and Robert and Cersei come to visit Ned after he has been conscious for a while. Cersei accuses Ned of getting drunk at a warehouse confronting Jaime and Ned tells Robert that he was visiting the bastard. Ned ends up being angry at the king because he feels like there is no justice. Cersei gets mad and insults Robert by telling him that she should be the one in charge since he is not doing his job right but Robert hits her as the punishment for being disrespectful.
This chapter is important within the larger context of the story because we are able to see that Cersei is getting annoyed with everything that is going on. However, when Cersei insults Robert he hits her as the punishment and she becomes angry. I think it would be interesting to see what would happen next because Cersei is kind of always seeking revenge for things that have been done. This shows that women do not get any type of respect during the midevil life because in today's society that would have been considered assault and the person would have faced either a fine or jail time.
