Summary: This chapter is obviously a narrative from Bran's view. He talks about what is going on in Winterfell after the news of their father has been received. Robb has called the banners and is wine and dining the men to convince them to fight. At the end of the chapter, Bran is left as the Lord of Winterfell while Robb is away.
Reaction: I chose this chapter because I was growing anxious to know what would happen at Winterfell when they got the news, and this chapter answered plenty of questions. We learn what Robb has decided to do upon hearing about Ned. We also find out how crazy Rickon has become with both of his parents away. Some of the knights make fun of Robb for how green he is. It is mentioned that he may be so green that he pees grass. Also we learn that the direwolves have again come in handy, when Robb's wolf bites off two fingers of Greatjon. Greatjon then decides Robb has tough meat. He agrees to ride with him. Bran goes to pray when Osha comes. She is a slave sort of in the kitchen. She tells Bran that the real trouble is beyond the wall. She says, "He's marching the wrong way." I felt that this also indicated that things are spicing up beyond the wall and we will see a lot more coming from the north rather than the south. I also felt for Bran when he realized that he was left at Winterfell as the lord, and that no one would ever cheer for him the way the did in the town to Robb. Bran said he wanted to be a night and was encouraged to possibly become a maester. Which is sort of a knight of the mind.
