Summary
In this Chapter, it is basically what is going on with Ned while everyone else is in battle or preparing for battle. Ned is being kept in a dungeon under the Red Keep.Ned does not how ling he has been there and also isn't being fed or giving water. throughout the chapter, Ned tries his hardest to keep sane. finally someone comes in gives him water but does not speak to him. Later someone comes and gives him wine which ends up being Varys. Varys lets Ned know of what is going on and that Sansa asked for his forgiveness and advice Ned to take it and accept Joffrey as King.
Importance
I believe that this chapter is important because of the information that Varys gives Ned. it allows Ned to ponder on what his actions will be once Cersei comes to him. This allows the story to change because if Varys would have not giving Ned this information Ned might react different when Cersei confronts him. I feel like Ned's perspective is sort of changing and he is in a way angry with himself for being the honorable man that he is because it was gotten him in some trouble like Varys points out "when i see what honesty and honor have won you, i understand why"
I chose this chapter because it leaves the reader with a sort of anxious questionable feeling on what is going to happen to Ned and what is the decision that Ned will make. As the reader you have two questions: Will Ned stick with his honesty and continue to be honorable? and What is Ned's fate? Will he fight back? Also i think that it is interesting to see that a Lord can be stripped of his title and rights and be giving to the Night's Watch. This chapter continuous with the topic of roles and loyalty. the role that character in the book is playing to either help or make the situation worse,
